An Update on Argyle Street

Thank You, Volunteers! 🙌

A massive thank you to everyone who helped with our big move from Cleveland Street to our new HQ on Argyle Street! Your hard work made it all possible.

While we wait to settle into our permanent 3rd-floor home, our temporary office on the 2nd floor is up and running. We're excited to offer even more open access work from our new space!

FREE Comic Making Workshop with Fox Fisher & Lewis Hancox! 🎨

🎉 Join Trans Comic Creators Fox Fisher & Lewis Hancox for a Special Comic Making Workshop for young people aged 14-25! 🎉

In this FREE workshop, you'll get hands-on experience in creating your own 4-panel comic. Plus, everyone attending will receive a FREE goodie bag packed with awesome goodies including:

  • Stickers by Lew and My Genderation
  • A copy of Fox's comic book Never Too Late
Date: Friday the 13th of September
Time: 4:30pm-6:30pm
Location: Comics Youth Office, Make Hamilton 2.0 Building, 69-71 Argyle Street, Birkenhead, CH41 6LQ

 

This is a safer space to discuss comics, LGBTQIA+ issues, and life in general, all while learning from two amazing trans creators!

🚶‍♂️ Getting Here:
The office is a short walk from Hamilton Square train station and Birkenhead bus station. If you're driving, there are pay and display car parks across the road and on-street parking nearby. When you arrive, head to the main doors, and a member of the Comics Youth staff will be there to greet you!

Adventure Alert: Join Us for a Day at Hilbre Island! 🌊

We're thrilled to partner with Grow Wellbeing for an unforgettable day of adventure and creativity on Hilbre Island! On Saturday September 14th (between 11:15-4:30pm), we're taking a group of 12 young people to explore this fascinating spot just off the coast of West Kirby.

What to Expect:

  • A full day of nature activities and creative fun.
  • A guided walk across the sand during low tide (about an hour each way—expect some wet and muddy fun!).
  • Discover the rich history of Hilbre Island.

Important: Our regular comics workshop will be canceled for this special event. Spaces are limited to 12, so act fast!

We’re thrilled to open up our Marginal Changemakers program for the Autumn cohort, starting on September 27th—and we want YOU to join us!

What’s Marginal Changemakers?

This is a powerful 12-week program where young people aged 15-25 will be supported to create and lead a campaign to spark change in the comics and publishing industry. If you’re passionate about comics and ready to make a difference, this is your chance!

What You’ll Learn:

  • Campaign Strategy: Master the art of planning and executing a campaign, from setting goals to mapping out tactics.
  • Social Media Savvy: Learn how to leverage platforms like Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok to spread your message and build a following.
  • Creative Content: Develop eye-catching visuals, compelling stories, and engaging videos to make your campaign stand out.
  • Public Speaking & Advocacy: Build confidence in presenting your ideas, whether you’re pitching to stakeholders or rallying support from your peers.
  • Teamwork & Leadership: Collaborate with other passionate young people, and learn how to lead a team toward a common goal.

What Success Looks Like:

  • A campaign that grabs attention, sparks conversation, and drives real change in the comics world.
