Comics Youth CIC and Comics Youth SCIO are proud to announce that Lancashire-born comics artist Mollie Ray has been appointed the UK’s inaugural Young Comics Laureate. Officially unveiled at the Lakes International Comic Art Festival (LICAF) 2025, the new role was created through a youth-designed process and over 600 public votes. Supported by the Charlie Adlard Foundation, the paid 12-month Laureate will champion comics as vital tools for creativity, resilience, and social change — ensuring young people’s voices are placed at the heart of UK culture.
