Youth Board Recruitment 2022

Do you believe every young person has the right to have their voice heard-no matter of their background or lived experiences? That young people in our city deserve access to safe spaces where they can be themselves?

Angry about inequality? Believe you can make our city region a better place? Want to improve authentic representation in print media? Are you aged 14-25?

We are excited to open applications for young people to join our Youth Board!

What is a Youth Board?

The Comics Youth CIC Youth Board will work together with the Management team to develop, improve, and promote the work of Comics Youth CIC. We feel that if we are representing the interests of marginalised children and young people within the Liverpool City Region, it is vital that young people themselves get to input into our strategy, project work, publishing house and our big ideas. We also feel a strong sense of duty to provide a platform where our members and other young people can give back to the organisation, as well as bring through the next generation of Board Members at a time when only 0.5% of all board members are under the age of 25!

It is important to note that all positions on the board will be voluntary and only pre-agreed expenses will be paid (the role is akin to a Trustee position within a charity therefore only pre-agreed expenses are paid).

Helping make a difference

By joining our Youth Board, you will be making a difference in the lives of hundreds of marginalised children and young people who join our projects each year, and supporting the organisations work of:

Developing the first young person led Publishing House in the UK.

Supporting the next generation of lived experience led changemakers.

Informing the organisation on what areas of projects require change and reform.

Observing our team at work, offer ideas to make CY better and co-create content and co-design strategies to make lives better for young people in our city.

Delivering projects that create important social change.

Improving access to youth services for children and young people.

Those selected for our Youth Board will be offered year-round training and support, including leadership, campaigns, media and professional development, in addition to mentorship from the CY team and young people.

Applications will be open from the 9th of September and close on 5 pm the 30th of September.

If you have any queries or need support with your application please email rhiannon@comicsyouth.co.uk or ring 07525369624.

Comics Youth CIC champions equality and is committed to creating a culture that respects and values diversity, inclusivity and equality. We welcome applicants from all sections of society and positively encourage applications from people who are underrepresented in our sector, including those from working class and ethnically diverse backgrounds or who experience racism, people who are neurodivergent, people with disabilities and people from the LGBTQ+ community.
