Beaming with (LCR) Pride! Comics Youth Wins LGBT+ Community Group of the Year
On Thurs 26th September, the Comics Youth team put on their glad rags and shimmied over to the glamorous scene of the Hilton Hotel for Liverpool’s inaugural LCR Pride Awards. Our mission? To celebrate the LGBT+ legends who make this city as vibrant, defiant, and gorgeous as it deserves to be … and to look hella cute and have fun while we did so. But we also came away with a little something extra: The accolade of being voted the best LGBT+ Community Group in the city. ..
To say we were all shocked, deeply humbled, and ecstatic to win the award is an understatement. We were shortlisted alongside two exceptional LGBT+ Community Groups who we’re honoured to have shared the category with: Over the Rainbow St Helens and our good friends GYRO / YPAS, with whom we’ve had the honor of working with in delivering top notch services for LGBTQ+ youth.
Sponsored by Merseyrail, the Community Group award honours groups or organisations whose work improves the lives of LGBTQ+ people and the community, providing vital support services as well as a safe, social space for the community. We’re incredbly proud of our passionate, magnificent team who have always gone, and continue to go, the extra mile for delivering such high quality services to LGBTQ+ youth. But we’re also superbly proud of all the LGBTQ+ young people that we see flourishing at Comics Youth: We share this award with all of you.
