Hold the Front Page ... We're Looking For Young Artists and Writers To Join the Comics Youth Newspaper Project!
Not content with launching the UK’s first young-person led publisher, we’re proud to announce our latest groundbreaking venture: A Comics Youth Newspaper. And we need your help to make it happen!
As you might have gathered from the hugely generic working title of the project, the Comics Youth Newspaper doesn’t currently have a name. And that’s because we don’t yet have a young team of talented and aspiring artists, writers, and journalists of the future to come up with one yet!
…Not to mention that we also don’t currently have all the other super important parts of a successful newspaper like: Ideas, pictures, words, and a designated tea-maker* to ensure we always have hot drinks to help us work (*actually, this position has already been filled by the grown-ups of Comics Youth who will make you all the cups of tea you could ever dream of!).
The newspaper will be focused on feelgood news items while also focusing on issues of great concern to young people. It will be light and fun and sprinkled with positvity (bringing some much needed glow in a world that feels increasingly full of shadows) but it will also be political and important and honest about how it feels to be a young person in the modern world.
The Comics Youth Newspaper (Ed note: pleeeeease get in touch if you have a shining idea for a terrific newspaper name…!) will be distributed across the Liverpool City Region (and beyond!). Furthermore, the team of newsies who’ll put it together will be supported and mentored by a team of professional artists and writers, providing a unique opportunity to gain valuable work experience, learn new skills, and maybe even make new friends along the way!
If you’re aged between 8 and 25 and are interested in joining the Comics Youth newspaper squad, then please drop us an email at Hi [at] ComicsYouth.co.uk with the subject line: EXTRA! EXTRA! CY NEWSPAPER, and let us know your name and age, and we’ll get back to you at the start of November.
We’re looking for artists and writers of all skill levels, so don’t be shy about registering your interest! The most important thing we’re looking for are people with passion, enthusiasm, and ideas.
